Scholarship Application Process

[1] Complete the application form online.

The scholarship application form will only be available to complete and submit online.

Applications for the 2026 scholarship will be opening soon.

[2] Complete Student Appraisal Online.

  • The Student Appraisal can only be completed online by a Johnston High School staff member via the email link sent in December or at www.dragonsf.org.
  • Only one appraisal can be submitted online via a Johnston High School staff email.

Appraisals for the 2026 Scholarship application period will be opening soon.

[3] Sign up for an interview via Sign Up Genius

  • All seniors will be emailed a Sign Up Genius link in early January 2026. You must have submitted your completed application form in order to sign up for an interview.
  • Interviews will be scheduled for the evenings in January 2026
  • If you have conflicts with those dates, please email us at dragonscholarshipfund@gmail.com  to make other arrangements.

[4] Participate in the interview

  • Interviews will be held at JHS.
  • Please dress appropriately (see additional information below). Interviews last approximately 5-7 minutes.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled interview time. Enter JHS at Door 2 (Activities Entrance).
  • Interviews will be held in the administration offices.

[5] Receive a Graduation Diploma from Johnston High School

  • In late April 2025, you will be notified via your personal email (not jdragon) of your scholarship award and amount.

[6] After Graduation, complete and submit the Policy and Institution Intent Form

  • This form must be completed by June 2026.  Scholarship money will not be transmitted unless this form is submitted.
  • If a school has not been selected by this time, the form MUST still be completed. The student can contact the committee later if a change needs to be made.

It is expected students send a Thank You note to the donor of your scholarship.

See your award email for donor's name and address.

Please note: All of the above steps must be completed for qualification of a scholarship or the scholarship is forfeited. There will be no reminders or variances. Dragon Scholarship Fund is not responsible for lost mail. ALL SCHOLARSHIP DECISIONS ARE FINAL.  The student application will NOT be retained after distribution of funds.

The Johnston Dragon Scholarship Fund Awards Committee reserves the right to disqualify an applicant from consideration of a scholarship if, in the discretion of the committee, the applicant's application is incomplete or fraudulent, or other circumstances relating to the integrity of the application process warrant disqualification.
