Dragon Scholarship Fund (DSF) Application Process

Dragon Scholarship Fund scholarships require students to complete six steps in a timely manner. Approximate deadlines will be provided for each step as the process progresses. It is important for students to read all the information below. Each step will require that the student enter the Johnston High School ID number, as this information will tie the 6 steps together for the DSF team.

scholarship application process

Step 1: Complete the Online Application

The scholarship application must be completed and submitted online.

Applications are now closed.

Applications are general open for 4-5 weeks from Mid December to Mid January each year. When open, the application link can be found here.  It is important to retain the documentation from google drive that your application was submitted.

Step 2: Student Appraisal (Completed by JHS Staff Member)

A Johnston High School staff member must complete the Student Appraisal online.

It is the student’s responsibility to request that the staff member complete the appraisal. It is recommended that the student:

  • Send a formal email to the staff member requesting that they fill out the link
  • Provide the link
  • Provide the student’s JHS ID number.

Only one appraisal per student may be submitted using a Johnston High School staff email address.

Appraisals are now closed.

Applications are general open for 4-5 weeks from Mid December to Mid January each year. When open, the application link can be found here.

Step 3: Sign Up for an Interview

In early February, all eligible students who completed step 1 and 2 in a timely manner, will receive an email with a link to SignUpGenius. This email will go to the non JHS email address that they provided in the application process (Step 1). The email will include all deadlines and applicable information.

Directions for a successful interview will be included in the SignUpGenius.

If you have a scheduling conflict, please email:

dragonscholarshipfund@gmail.com

Step 4: Participate in the Interview

  • Interviews last approximately 5–7 minutes
  • Arrive 10 minutes early
  • Enter through Door 2 (Activities Entrance)
  • Interviews will take place in the Administration Offices
  • Please dress appropriately (see additional information below)

Step 5: Receive a Graduation Diploma from Johnston High School

This step is currently open and is required in order to receive your Dragon Scholarship Fund award.

You are now on the final step of the scholarship process. Please complete the Policy and Institution Intent Form by June 12 to ensure your scholarship funds are distributed.  If a school has not yet been selected, the form must still be completed.
